Bricklab is an award-winning, Jeddah-based architecture studio co-established by brothers Abdulrahman and Turki Gazzaz. Their practice probes the boundaries between art, material research, and built environments, merging technical mastery with conceptual rigor and interdisciplinary design. Inviting reflection upon dynamic elements that often go unnoticed, they explore the “gaps between graphics, product design, interiors, and architecture” through innovative investigations of site, object, and user— the component parts of our social and physical worlds. Bricklab creates architecture for cultural uses, visionary master plans, public space interventions, exhibition scenography, and artistic installations in response to the sociopolitical and economic contexts of their commissions.
Brothers Abdulrahman and Turki Gazzaz were born and raised in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Abdulrahman holds a Bachelor's degree in Architecture and Planning from the University of the West of England (Bristol, United Kingdom) while Turki earned his Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering from McGill University (Montreal, Canada). In 2015 they established Bricklab - Saudi Arabia, a studio for developing architectural concepts based in Jeddah. They have particular interest in architectural engineering, planning and history, which ensures a particular focus on the research for each project, offering contributions on their particular social, economic and political contexts.
Crystallized in the name of Raw not only as an homage to Rawdah District but more so an uncensored yet thought provoking space for acquiring knowledge of all its forms. One can say, at its core the talks became closer to an actively shifting library due to the lack ofacademia in our social setting in Saudi, but also echoing globally.

The 2025-2026 Hayy Facade Commission open call received a high number of strong and original proposals. In recognition of the quality of these applications, the Jury has decided to exceptionally award two proposals to be realised in 2026 and 2027. The awardees are Bricklab for the 2026 Facade Commission and Alaa Tarabzouni for the 2027 Facade Commission.

MDL Beast approached Bricklab to design one of their first permanent venues. Located in the Saudi capital's Diplomatic Quarter, their 18,000 m2 property was once one of Riyadh's most prominent equestrian facilities. The large site includes a large horse stable, an administration block, and a handful of small service facilities scattered throughout an expanse of delicate desert landscapes.

With a roster of winners that showcased truly change-inspiring design, last year’s Arab World Institute Design Prize revealed exceptional talents practicing across the region.

While architects marvel over the historic heart of Jeddah, the city’s equally impressive modernist heritage has been overlooked. That could change with the publication of a hefty new book, edited by brothers Abdulrahman and Turki Gazzaz, co‑founders of Jeddah-based practice Bricklab.

“With reference to broader phenomenological definitions of Being, for us, architecture plays an essential role in shaping a collective understanding of place, time, and society. Social narratives, geopolitics, climate, and ecology define the unique context of each site, influencing how people experience and interact with their surroundings.”

Attaché, which opened in late September in Riyadh‘s Diplomatic Quarter, transforms a former equestrian club into a destination for music enthusiasts, off-duty diplomats, and innovators.
